The Requena Notary’s Office in Barcelona renovates its offices and opts for a carefully designed interior design by Cecilia Arias from Alonso Arias Architects and Andrea Arqués from A Studio Architects.
Workspaces that breathe design and exhale tranquillity, while the light of Barcelona invades everything. This project includes a sideboard and a desk from the Julia Collection.
Momocca: Who is this project aimed at?
Cecilia Arias: The interior design is aimed especially at the employees and clients of the notary’s office. Old offices of more than 500m2 have been renovated to house this new concept of notary’s office.
M: What needs were you looking to cover in this interior design?
Andrea Arqués.: The challenge was to achieve the functionality of daily work with a careful design.
Special care has been taken in the choice of the materials that surround the spaces and the furniture itself. We all aimed to create calm and at the same time sober spaces.
M: How does the project begin?
C y A: The layout is organised parallel to the façade of the building, through an open interior corridor that gives access to the different rooms.
The idea is to let light into each of the interior spaces, whether they are for work or for customer service. Taking advantage of its privileged location, we wanted the light and essence of this well-known street in Barcelona to also form part of the interior of the notary’s office.
M: Why did you choose a neutral colour palette? White, black and greys take centre stage in the ceiling, walls, lamps, furniture and even decoration.
A.A: We took great care in the choice of colours so that the rooms would be as bright as possible. When we entered the premises for the first time, what struck us most was the light through the balconies. We wanted the colours and materials chosen to enhance that light.
The furniture and lamps are timeless designs that help to create balanced spaces.
M: Why did you choose the Julia Collection to complete the space?
C.A: We were looking for quality furniture with an honest design.
The functionality offered by the pieces for work and the different possibilities of modulation made us decide. We understand that the selection corresponds to contemporary interior design, which is above all timeless.
C.A: We like to work with real materials. Both wood and marble are noble materials that bring tranquillity and harmony. In response to the client’s needs, we wanted to give a sober, but at the same time warm, image.
