Bauhaus-style interior design

Minimalism, simplicity and design

Turning a house into a unique interior design home that moves away from clichés, to become a true timeless reference of the Bauhaus style. This idea comes from Sara, client and friend. She tells her experience in this interview.

A different project in which we know, for the first time, the client’s point of view.

Momocca – What need were you looking for to cover with this reform of the house?

Sara – Our main objective was to make a classic flat in Valencia, with many small rooms, such as the kitchen or the living room at the back of the house, becoming a modern home that responds to our needs.

On the one hand, we needed a wide and versatile Day-Area where we could meet our friends in our already famous events such as “La Latada”, “Birds Vermouth Bar” or the “International Croquet Festival” (something we are very proud of). On the other hand, we were looking for a relaxed and warm area for the rooms and the studio.

M- With the clear objective that you wanted the house to be modern, but without renouncing to the warm touch, how did you live that transformation?

S: The design and renovation process was carried out in conjunction with Boor Studio and was long and somewhat strenuous, but the final result was worth it.

M – Being a joint project your participation would carry considerable weight. How was the decision process about the space and furniture?

S: The house has elements with a lot of character such as the old mouldings of the ceilings, the exposed concrete beams or the different windows with steel profiles that are distributed throughout the house.

Once the remodelling was completed, and based on these elements, the selection of furniture flowed in a very simple and natural way. Each piece seemed to give rise to the next and fit together almost without question. There are still pieces that have not crossed our path and which we are anxiously awaiting, such as a perfect coffee table.

M: – It seems that it was the house itself that was telling you how to go on, but surely you were starting from a base. What inspired you?

S: My greatest obsession was not to have a “Pinterest house”, I mean I didn’t want to live in a copy-paste home. I looked for references that I’ve always liked to create a timeless interior. In the process there were moments of total delirium, such as when I asked the parquet worker to find an exact floor of a room in Louvre. Even so, we all managed to survive and finish the work.

At home we followed a very Bauhaus-style philosophy without wanting to, not only because of the love of simplicity, but also because a certain member of the couple (we won’t go into who) is always concerned that the design decisions achieve maximum functionality.

M: -Finally, a mandatory question: why did you choose Momocca furniture?

I know the momocca project since its beginning and I have always loved the cleanliness of its lines and the quality of its furniture.

We chose a Julia sideboard because I think it is a very powerful piece but very classic and capable of fitting in with future changes in decoration. With Adara it was directly passionate, I think it is a fundamental piece in the configuration of the living room.

The combination of the uphostery with the wood and the metal is the dream of any aesthete.

At home we followed a very Bauhaus-style philosophy without wanting to, not only because of the love of simplicity but also because a certain member of the couple (...) is always concerned that the design decisions achieve maximum functionality.

From Momocca we sincerely appreciate the trust that Sara has placed in us and above all the time and positive energy dedicated to this interview.
